I’m one of those guys that used to build plastic model kits when I was young. Over the years I found other ways to spend my money and waste my time, but recently I’ve come back to scale modelling.

Why? I really enjoy using my hands, and I can’t sit still for more than about 5 minutes without getting fidgety. I started buying some of the more grown up Lego sets, but as my wife pointed out, they’re not great value. You spend about $200 on a set, build it in a couple of hours and then that’s it.

So I got back into modelling. I’m no expert by any scale, but my skills are improving. When I built my first kit around mid 2011, it was more about getting back into the swing of things. The kit still sits on my shelf, but it’s construction isn’t overly great and the paint job isn’t either.

But 18 months on, and my kits are looking a thousand times better and I’m enjoying getting more and more kits and modifying them more and more. I hope you enjoy my blog, and maybe learn a thing or two. But the most important thing about scale modelling is to have fun!
